U.S. Army Reserve Veteran (1989–1997)

I had the honor of serving my country from December 1989 to December 1997, and I carry that experience with deep pride. The lessons of discipline, unity, and purpose I learned during those years still shape the person I am today. Service changes you — it opens your eyes to what true commitment and sacrifice look like.

Today, I pause with a heart full of gratitude to honor every man and woman who has ever worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar — it’s a moment of national reflection, a time to remember the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of those who have stood on the front lines of freedom.

From the earliest battles that birthed this nation to the peacekeeping missions that protect it today, our military has been the heartbeat of courage and resilience. Whether in the trenches of World War I, the beaches of Normandy, the jungles of Vietnam, the sands of the Middle East, or the skies above global conflict zones — the story of America’s strength is written in the lives of those who served.

Each generation of service members has carried the same torch — a willingness to defend, to protect, and to give more than is ever asked. That courage is not limited to combat. It’s seen in the sleepless nights away from family, in the quiet strength of military spouses, and in the unspoken bond between those who’ve served side by side.

To every veteran who served before me, alongside me, and after me — thank you. Your bravery built bridges of peace. Your endurance preserved the freedoms we too often take for granted. And to those currently serving — we see you, we honor you, and we are praying for your safety and strength.

As citizens, our role is not just to say “thank you” once a year, but to actively support our veterans. Whether it’s lending a listening ear to someone struggling with the transition to civilian life, advocating for mental health resources, or simply showing kindness and respect — every act of gratitude matters.

Today and every day, may we remember that freedom is not free. It’s paid for through the courage of countless men and women who stood ready to defend what they believed in — even when it meant great personal cost.

A Prayer for Our Veterans and Service Members

Heavenly Father,

We thank You for the brave men and women who have answered the call to serve this nation. Bless those who stand watch today, and comfort those who carry the memories of battle. Wrap Your arms around every veteran who has given so much, and remind them their service was not in vain. Protect our active-duty soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and guardians wherever they may be. Grant them peace, strength, and courage as they carry out their duties. And may we, as a nation, always honor their sacrifice with our actions and our gratitude.

In Jesus’ name we pray — Amen.

As we celebrate Veterans Day, may we pause not only to remember but to acknowledge — the courage, the resilience, and the unwavering faith that drives those who serve. May we live in such a way that our gratitude is evident, our respect is continuous, and our prayers are unending.

To all my brothers and sisters in arms — thank you for your service, your strength, and your sacrifice.

Happy Veterans Day 🇺🇸
